Frogs are amphibians that can dwell on land and water. They have roamed the Earth for 190 million years, mostly due to their adaptability. Today they can be found near freshwater almost everywhere, from the desert to the Arctic, and on all continents except Antarctica. Although it is not necessary for their survival, they tend to thrive in warm, moist tropical climates. It is not necessary because they are cold-blooded, which means their bodies change temperature based on the surrounding temperature.
Their large eyes placed on the top of their heads allow them to see a large range of colors, and also in dim light. They drink and breathe through their skin, which is why they need to keep their skin moist. Without this, the oxygen can not easily pass through their skin. Approximately once per week frogs will then shed this skin, and then eat it. Besides their skin, they tend to eat almost any live prey, including insects, snails, spiders, worms, and small fish. All are swallowed whole, though, since frogs can not chew.

Many frogs are able to leap up to twenty times their body length (which is approximately 100 feet for a human). This is made possible mainly due to their anatomy. Their two front legs have 4 toes each, and their back legs have 5 each.

These characteristics are just the basic makeup of frogs. Each species has their own characteristics, but they are all similar in these ways. There are many internet sites dedicated to frogs, and even many books with research. To learn more about them, please find a copy of a book, or visit any webpage. Here is a suggestion to start with:
